Lab-grown diamonds, plainly explained

The short version

A lab-grown diamond is a diamond. The only difference is where the carbon crystallized. Because the process is measurable and repeatable, we can source consistently high cut grades and pass the saving to you.

Are lab-grown diamonds real diamonds?

Yes. A lab-grown diamond is pure crystallized carbon with the same hardness, refractive index and chemistry as a mined diamond. Gemological laboratories grade them on the same scales.

How are they grown?

Two methods: CVD, where carbon is deposited onto a diamond seed inside a plasma chamber, and HPHT, which recreates mantle pressure and heat. Both take weeks, not millennia.

Do they test as diamond?

Yes. Standard diamond testers read them as diamond. Laboratory equipment can identify growth origin, and every Luxverra stone is disclosed and certified as lab-grown.

Why do they cost less?

Supply is predictable and the chain from grower to bench is short. That usually means a materially larger, better-graded stone for the same budget.

Do they hold up over time?

They are a 10 on the Mohs scale, the hardest material used in jewelry, and will not cloud or lose brilliance with wear.
